Site locations

At UCL, over 700 sediment cores and other archives have been analysed for spheroidal carbonaceous particles (SCPs) since the late-1980s. These archives are mainly lake sediment cores but also include lake surface sediments, annual samples from lake sediment traps, marine sediment cores, peat and other soil sequences and, more recently, ice cores and coral skeletons. More information about some of these can be found on the Gloscape ‘Projects’ page. Although SCPs have been found in most of these archives, they have not been observed in all.

The locations of the archives analysed so far may be seen on the Google map below. For an interactive version of this map or to see the sites on a Google Earth view please follow the link below the map.
